“Ivan Civic summer collection '79”

Performance from 2000, made during the University year exhibition. It started at midnight and lasted half an hour... Behind me was a video projection of my mother to be seen. I was interviewing her in our flat in Italy about her life, childhood, mother, marriage, mistakes and things she thought she did correctly in her life. A half an hour video where her whole life is to be heard in an essencial way... After she describes how it was to give birth to me, I enter the space, dressed like an old fashioned diva... With a blanket for a dress... I stand on a little podium in front of the projection and never look back at her talking to me. I am still, making minimal movements each three minutes, assuming different diva positions... The room is dark and there is only one spotlight illuminating me. As she says how difficult it is without a mother and how it was for her to face her mother's death... The light goes off and I leave the space... The public is left alone in total darkness...
